1. Choose a Target Market
To sell on Wish like a pro, choose a target market. It all begins there. You wouldn’t want to market baby wear to a target market aged 15 to 25, right? That wouldn’t make sense, and you probably won’t make sales anyway. Most people at that age aren’t married, nor do they have babies—so there you go…with your chances of sales melting like ice cream on a sunny day!
Pay attention to two things: What to sell and whom to sell to. That way, you channel appropriate products to the appropriate market. Google Trends and Ubersuggest’s Keyword Tool help you in that regard, especially when it comes to zeroing in on your demographics and trends.
Wish has popular product categories that are topping the charts in the marketplace. These include gadgets, babies and kids, hobbies, apparel and accessories, home decor, and household supplies.
Do your research on various product categories on Wish and decide what to sell. Studies on Wish and other marketplaces show that businesses with niche-specific products perform better than stores showcasing generic products.
Analyze market trends to position yourself in a market with high demand and low-to-average supply. That’s the sweetest spot to be at. Remember that!
2. Create a Wish Merchant Account
To sell on Wish like someone who’s done it all his or her life, create a Wish Merchant Account you can later connect to your ecommerce store.
Creating a Wish account is free, and it gives you options—an individual account or a business account.
With an individual account, you are unincorporated—that is, you sell on your own. However, during registration, you must show some form of identification—a government-issued ID—to make sure the information you provide is accurate.
Alternatively, you can create a business account. With this, you must have a registered company. You provide your company name, registration information, country of domicile, and proof of identity, and are able to initiate transactions—to receive and make payments.
Choose an account type that fits your needs and qualification and then go to Wish.com from your laptop, or download the app (for iPhone and Android users). Remember to choose your account type.
Click on “Create Account” for iPhone users, and “Create an Account” for Android users. Input your store name, email address, and password, and fill in the “Captcha.” Click “Continue” and follow the prompts on the screen to complete the process. It’s easy.
Verify your email once you have completed the registration process.
That’s it! Wish creates your account. Time to go make some money, Boss!
3. Connect an Existing Ecommerce Store to Wish
To sell on Wish with massive returns, link an ecommerce platform where you list your items for sale. Wish gives you several ecommerce platforms to which you can integrate your store—Shopify, eBay, BigCommerce, etc.
You can link up your existing ecommerce platform to Wish and start selling your products. Simultaneously, you can also list products on your ecommerce platform and sell products there at the same time
This is optional, though.
You can keep your store limited to Wish or spread across your options. It’s up to you.
4. Familiarize Yourself With Wish’s Product Listing Guidelines
To sell on Wish with incredible profit, familiarize yourself with Wish’s product listing guidelines.
Ensure you have the authorization to sell branded products and have purchased your products from legitimate sources. Have your proof of purchase in place if you want to resell the item.
List accurate and honest titles and descriptions of your products and avoid over-exaggeration. Don’t stuff your listings with trademarked keywords for SEO.
Wish forbids counterfeit products and does not condone violating intellectual property rights. You may incur some legal charges. Don’t copy other merchants’ product listings or use images of famous celebrities in your product listings.
Avoid using Wish’s brand to advance your merchant store, and using any deceptive keywords to promote your store.
5. List Your Products
To sell on Wish like crazy, list the products that best serve your target market. Provide a diverse assortment of products so customers can have options.
(Hey, quick secret: Shoppers love it when you give them many, many, many options! Remember that.)
Install the Wish app and sign in to your Wish merchant account.
Choose “Inventory” from the navigation. Click the “List an item” button. Write product description—this includes the product dimension and quantity. Fill in every necessary detail and click “Next.”
Set the quantity and the price of the product. In setting the quantity section, list for sale only a segment of your available unit so you can have adequate products for your Wish customers and walk-in customers alike.
Have competitive prices and lure shoppers in with deals so amazing, that they not only would enthusiastically buy from you over and over and over, but they would also excitingly share the good news with friends and family.
Note that Wish charges a 15% commission on every sale.
So, you’d want to consider that when setting your prices.
Choose HD photos for products you are listing and make sure you capture important angles and have images well-fitted in the frame.
6. See if Wish Dropshipping Can Make You Even More Money
To sell on Wish like an expert, see if Wish dropshipping can make you even more money.
Search for the best dropshipping platforms within your niche that can automate order fulfillment. Consider dropping platforms like Spocket, BryBelly, US Direct, National Dropshippers, and Doba.
Source reliable dropshipping suppliers with the best products. Analyze the product’s competition, scanning from different marketplaces so you can make data-driven decisions.
Use tools like Sell the Trend and Niche Scraper to source the best products for dropshipping on Wish.
Contact the dropshipping suppliers (mostly through their customer service) once you are sure they have the best products and services for you. Ask them questions about their order fulfillment services. Also, negotiate contract terms with them. Be conscious of your profit margin while negotiating.
7. Add Brand Authorizations
To sell on Wish profitably, add brand authorizations in case you manage branded products. These authorizations grant you the legal right to sell those products.
The last thing you want is to see big names like Nike, Bose or Apple—to name only three—drag your store to court on grounds of IP theft.
To add brand authorizations, go to your Wish merchant dashboard and click “Products.” Select “Brand Authorizations” and click “Create New.”
Make sure you have proof of intellectual property rights, a letter of authorization to sell, evidence that your supplier has legal standing to sell, and proof of partnership with your supplier at your disposal. You need those documents to complete your brand authorization process.
8. Set Up a Payment Method
To sell on Wish like a pro, set up a payment method so you can send and receive payments. Wish does not accept payment on delivery or bank transfer. However, you can send and receive payments via debit cards (Visa and Mastercard only), PayPal, Google Pay, Google Wallet, Major credit cards, and Klarna.
To set up a payment method, open the app menu and tap “Settings.” Click the “Add New Payment” option and enter your preferred payment method from Wish’s available options. Fill in the billing address form and click “Use This Address.” Click “Add New Payment Method” to complete the process.
9. Set Up Fulfillment Order
To successfully establish a Wish store, set up a fulfillment order so you can get items to customers on time. Wish gives you two options for fulfilling orders—”Fulfilled by Shop” and “Fulfilled by Wish.com.”
With the “Fulfilled by Shop” option, you take care of the storing, shipping, and delivery of products to customers.
On the other hand, FBW (Fulfilled By Wish) helps to store your goods in their warehouse, and when a customer places an order and pays, Wish sends the product to the customer’s address.
10. Promote Your Store
To sell on Wish like the greatest entrepreneur of all times, promote your store so you can attract the right customers, increase sales and make a profit.
Keep a few things in mind when promoting your products. Ensure that your product prices are low enough to attract shoppers, but not too low to lose your profit.
Create compelling content for your products. Content writing positions your brand as an authority in your niche—and also serves as a traffic-generating source that ultimately converts.
Add demo videos to add life to your product story and increase customers’ desire to purchase.
Leverage your social media presence. Use your social media accounts—Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, and YouTube—to blow your own trumpet.
Use discounts from time to time. This technique helps you drive traffic to your store and ultimately pull in sales.
Partner with influencers within your niche. Pay to promote your products to their large fan base.
Use email campaigns to connect with customers and direct them to your landing page. Install email plugins to automate your email collection process so you can promote your store at a low cost. It’s cheaper that way.
