  2. Choose a Store Subscription
  3. Personalize Your Store
  4. Organize your inventory
  5. Preview Your Store

Ready? Let’s start!

1. Open an eBay Seller Account

To create an eBay store, first, open a seller account. As the name implies, a seller account lets you sell on eBay. Good enough, there’s nothing to it. Just follow these steps.

  • Go to the eBay page and open the My eBay drop-down menu. Select Selling.
  • Choose a Personal or Business account, fill out the registration form and click Create account (or you can sign up using your Google, Facebook, or Apple account). After that, provide your contact information and select Continue.
  • eBay redirects you to My eBay automatically to begin that actual registration as a seller on the platform.
  • Open the My eBay drop-down menu and select Selling once again.
  • On the Selling Overview page, click the List an item button. You will be redirected to the Sell your item form.
  • Enter the name of your item and click Get started.
  • Fill out the Sell your item form and click the Submit button. Your listing will be saved as a draft, and you will be redirected to the seller account registration page where you register an account for payouts when you sell.

eBay will ask if you have an existing Payoneer account or if you’d like to create a new one. You’ll be prompted to either sign in to an existing account or create a new account through Payoneer.

After setting up your payment account, select Get Started.

  • Enter your telephone number and verify it by providing a one-time security code.
  • Change your account type to a business account. Although this is entirely optional, if you registered a Payoneer or any other receiving account as a company, you need to change your account type to a business account.

2. Choose a Store Subscription

Now that you have a seller account on eBay, here comes the very next step in creating an eBay store; choose a store subscription.

Subscribing to an eBay Store allows you to gather all your listings in a single, branded location. Subscribing to a store also lets you access additional tools to manage your business, along with an increased number of monthly free listings and discounted fees.

To choose a store subscription, compare different eBay store packages and decide the features of the eBay store you need. The four store packages on eBay include:

  • Basic Store: gives you free listings, final value fee discounts, and a quarterly coupon for eBay-branded shipping supplies.
  • Premium Store: this store package is best for people that have an extensive product assortment. It offers you substantially more zero-insertion fee listings.
  • Anchor Store: for high-volume sellers who have an extensive product catalogue or are running a business that would benefit from dedicated customer support.
  • Enterprise Store: For enterprise sellers who have an extensive product catalogue or are running a business that would benefit from dedicated customer support.

To choose a store subscription.

  • Go to Choose Subscription.
  • Find the eBay Store type you’d like to subscribe to and click on Select and review.
  • Choose the subscription term (yearly or monthly) and enter a name for your eBay Store.
  • Select Submit order to purchase the eBay Store subscription.

3. Personalize Your eBay Store

To create an eBay store, personalize your eBay store. Choose a name, design and add your business logo to your store.

In choosing a name for your store, go for a name that gives a clue about what you sell at a glance. For example, Sparkle clothing immediately tells you that the seller sells clothes. A name like “Tina’s stop shop” is not relatable.

Choosing a name that expresses what you sell also helps search engines to find your store when buyers are looking for the kinds of products you sell. Once you choose a name for your eBay store, eBay creates a website address (URL) for you.

Your business logo gives your store a professional feel, so do well to add it. You can also add other things like a video, marketing banner, billboard, about description.

Add your store policies to tell your prospects your standard for things like warranty, shipping, and returns.

4. Organize Your Inventory

You’re closer to having your eBay store up and running. At this point, organize your inventory; set up different store categories to promote specific listings, making it easier for your prospective buyers to find what they’re looking for.

Thankfully, you can create up to 300 Store categories on eBay. Your Store category total includes the sum of all level 1, level 2, and level 3 categories. For example, you could have 30 level 1 categories with 10 subcategories each or 300 level 1 category.

However, keep in mind that once you create a store on eBay, the platform creates a default level 1 store category “Other Items” for you. This store category does count toward the 300-category limit.

5. Preview Your Store

After creating your eBay store, preview your store. In other words, take the place of the buyer and get an idea of how your store looks to buyers.

Ensure everything, from looks to information is perfect before your store goes live. When you’re done, click Publish.

Summary

Owning an eBay store is a great way to connect with more buyers and sell more of your stuff. It’s also a great way to build your business and establish yourself as an authority in your field.

To create an eBay store, open an eBay seller account, choose a store subscription, personalize your store, organize your inventory and preview your store. When you’ve done these you’re ready to sell on eBay.
